A small group of Danish immigrants who had come to Fresno to work on railroads, irrigation projects and farms, met for several years in the Union Church at Central and Elm where a visiting pastor held services.  In 1888, this industrious group bought land at the corner of Lincoln and Elm, built a parsonage, and engaged a permanent pastor.  By 1898, a church of their own had been built.

During the mid 1920’s, the language of the service gradually changed from Danish to English, however, to this day, the parish still includes many members with Danish names.

The present sanctuary at the corner of Lincoln and Elm, designed by architect Morgan Howell, was dedicated in December 1957.

The multi-colored stained glass Latin cross in the chancel was designed and installed by Carl Huneke, Century Stained Glass Studio, San Francisco in 1957.  The stained glass Greek cross at the rear of the nave was created by Mr. Huneke at the same time.  His beautiful work appears in almost 70 churches in Northern California.
